Google Earth Day 2022 Doodle: What it means?
The Google Doodle for Earth Day 2022 is showing actual time-lapse visuals from Google Earth and other trusted sources. It reflects the adverse effects of climate change on four different locations in the world. They will be shown throughout the day and each scene would stay for several hours at a time and then change.
The four Google Earth locales are:
Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa
Sermersooq Glacier retreat in Greenland
Great Barrier Reef in Australia
Harz Forests in Germany
The time-lapse representation of these regions evidently shows the impact of climate change. The presented recordings range from a span of a few months to a stretch of 25 years. More the time, the more apparent is the considerable change that has happened to the vegetation and natural setting of that place.
Looking at these Google Doodle time-lapses of our Earth, we recall the wise words of Sir David Attenborough, “We are at a unique stage in our history. Never before have we had such an awareness of what we are doing to the planet, and never before have we had the power to do something about that. Surely we all have a responsibility to care for our Blue Planet. The future of humanity and indeed, all life on earth, now depends on us.”
